Three Dimensional Planning and "Virtual Surgery" | ||
|
Planner allows the surgeon to determine the optimum size required and the exact position to place the components of the joint replacement by creating a patient specific ‘Patient Plan’. Uniquely, Acrobot Planner allows the surgeon to visualise the two halves of the joint separately and then to review the range of motion of the planned implants. The patient undergoes a pre-operative CT scan and the CT data files are then processed to produce a 3D model of the anatomy. Processing to produce the 3D model is undertaken at Acrobot or at the hospital by a trained Radiographer using the Acrobot Modeller software. The surgeon is then able to view the 3D model using Acrobot Planner software on his or her computer. Acrobot Planner currently features applications for Hip Resurfacing, Total Hip and Unicondylar Knee implants. Further implant types will continue to be added to our implant library. The surgical plan can then be taken forward to surgical navigation or bone sculpting.
