Acrobot Navigator is a unique non-optical / non-electromagnetic navigation system, which uses mechanical tracking of the patient. Mechanical tracking means that there are no line-of-sight issues as with optical tracking and no interference issues as with electro-magnetic tracking. The Acrobot Navigator offers an excellent software - user interface and simplicity of use. This ensures overall procedure time is not penalised. The system features two tracking arms; one is attached to the patient (using a simple bone interlock) and the second is attached to various key surgical instruments (easily interchanged during the procedure). The Acrobot Navigator system is ergonomic, does not interfere with the surgical site and is housed within a non-obstructive trolley. To ensure direct surgeon interaction, the system features a draped touch screen. The surgeon can see the actual versus the planned position of each instrument to achieve accurate bone preparation in exact accordance with the plan created using Acrobot Planner™. Planning can be performed pre-operatively or immediately prior to surgery, depending on surgeon preference. |
